This third of the nine lessons from Willermoz to his Grands Profès is perhaps the most famous of all his writings. Also called Man-God, a Treatise on the Two Natures of Christ, this priceless document in the Willermoz Archives in the Lyon National Library has even been published as its own book (see the header image) in France; and also translated into English in Volume 2 of The Martinist Tradition, published by the International College of Esoteric Studies in Barbados, but which now sadly appears to have gone quiet.

That it was already available in English did not prevent me from wanting to do it myself, since I hope to have all Nine Lessons completed quite soon, at which time I will polish them and publish them, perhaps with other documents. So you’re seeing the ‘live’ process of their translation here!

Willermoz delivers a sermon on paper to his members, explaining the dual nature of Jesus Christ according to the rather unorthodox theosophy of Martinez de Pasqually. Without going into detail here, since the translation itself is available at the bottom of this page, the Meditation on the Cross at the end is an absolutely stunning passage which links the crucifixion not only the man’s salvation (or reintegration) but to the whole temporal universe, and the restoration of original man to his place of glory at its center, and the center of Eden. All in all the paper is a most eloquent summary of the one who was referred to as the Repairer, and its imagery in the Meditation is insightful not only to students of Willermoz, Pasqually and Saint-Martin, but Martinists in general, and even members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, who will find much to think about in the final paragraphs.

Here it is: Paper 3 by Willermoz (Cahiers 1 – 9)
