Well, it has been a busy couple of weeks. We had some of our Chiefs from the UK stay on the East Coast, and the Temple was humming with many wonderful events (those of you linked on Facebook will have seen the Episcopal Consecration, and believe me much more happened which has no place on a public forum)!

Now I want to share a translation of the second missive from Willermoz instructing his Grand Professed Knights in his Order of the Scottish Rectified Rite (Knights Beneficent of the Holy City, or C.B.C.S.). He wrote 9 lessons, of which this is the second, the first being to his son which appeared here a couple of weeks ago in a previous Blog.

Since there will always be someone who complains that these are secret teachings, I can reassure everyone that the manuscripts are available to anyone who visits the relevant libraries in France, and that the librarians are happy to make a copy – for a fee! – for anyone who visits and who knows what to ask for. The trick is in deciphering the often difficult handwritten documents, and in this instance translating them into comprehensible English!

I will be doing the other 7 lessons over the coming weeks.

  • To those who understand, I am performing a service to Martinism and an understanding of the R.E.R./C.B.C.S. which has never been available in English until now.
  • To the esoterically curious, I am providing a glimpse into Gnostic and Masonic currents which existed in France at the end of the 18th Century: to them I say purchase my translation, since they will provide a deeper understanding of this esoteric current
  • To those who are vaguely curious, all I can say is: good luck!

While two versions of Pasqually’s Treatise of the Reintegration of Beings were made in English, neither was complete, and both as no longer available. As my penance, and since this is so necessary to understand all of this, I hope to complete a full translation in the not too distant future. That is my promise. However, anyone who knows anything about the document will know how difficult this is going to be!
