I’m delighted to announce that my newest translation is now out (in paperback – hardback coming in around ten days).

This continues my work on getting as many source Martinist books into the hands of English-speaking public as possible, so that they are no longer reading key materials second- or even third-hand, or in summarized format.

This time I have focused on two key books: Saint-Martin’s (posthumously published) book On Numbers, which goes into detail about his theosophical approach. The other book is by Papus (also published posthumously) and titled The Science of Numbers, which continues Saint-Martin’s ideas and also includes excerpts from a number of other contemporary and earlier writers on this important topic.

Some may be familiar with the works of Sepharial, Willam Wynn Westcott, George Winslow Plummer and others. Others are certainly familiar with Numerology, the Kabbalistic treatment of numbers, and so forth. This adds a new angle to these studies, by providing a view into the French school of numerical symbolism instituted by Martines de Pasqually and continued by Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin and, incidentally, by Jean-Baptiste Willermoz in his crafting of the Scottish Rectified Rite.

The book itself is 416 pages long, and has many illustrations by Saint-Martin and Papus, as well as my copious explanations (including no less than 342 footnotes!). Incidentally, the Papus book was reprinted in France recently. I was laughing at the comments, ranging from ‘impossible to understand’ to ‘my head hurts’! I’m delighted to tell you that this version is actually quite readable – with the singular exception of one small Chapter (not Papus’ own work), and you’ll see why in the book!

I hope that this will be a useful addition to English language books on Martinism.
