“PRAYER” by PAUL SÉDIR

About a week ago, Bro. Marco van Boekel asked if anyone could translate Paul Sédir’s book on Prayer. Although working on a number of projects, since I have a soft spot for Sédir I was intrigued and took a look at the text.

Its power amazed me. Its importance was evident, and I immediately set aside my other projects to work on this. It’ s short book, barely 36 pages long, but the contents can be read and reread over a lifetime. Each time I seem to see something more, something behind the text. Indeed, in over 20 years of translating, I have never worked on a book which made me cry as I was translating it! That is how powerful the book is.

As well as providing one of the most practical manuals I have ever read on how to pray (somehow it seems most books offered by the Christian mystics – I’m looking at you, St. Theresa of Ávila – write about their experiences in such a way that, instead of teaching you how to do it, you feel like a mere observer to their experiences), it also offers flashes of insight into what lies beyond. His devotion both to Maître Philippe and to Martinism shine through every page.

I hope you find this translation both useful and uplifting.

By the way, if you hover over the BOOKS option on the top menu, you’ll now see a new page appear: UP AND COMING RELEASES. Here you’ll see the projects I and our other authors are currently working on!
